Bradbeer appears to have made a concerted effort to revisit beauty, mindful that it could be perceived as diametrically opposed to much of his work to date… In 1999 Bradbeer was also reconceptualising his work from the previous 25 years – from the position of the end of that period, not the beginning… a conceptual shift now took a place… To better understand the work Bradbeer made in the 90’s- mostly male figures followed by the beautiful “innocent” series – it is necessary to examine the ‘Anima Sola’ works, the monkey Paintings.
